How does it work?
The optical tube assembly consists of a primary parabolic mirror and a flat secondary mirror in an open ended tube, with a focuser for the eye piece set on the side. Light enters the tube, bounces of the parabolic mirror at the base and is then focused onto the flat secondary mirror which then reflects onto the eye piece. This design has the benefit of being able to gather a lot of light, which means fainter objects can be seen, hence why this telescope is often refered to as a 'light bucket'
The telecope is then mounted onto a base that can be moved in the Altitude (up and down) and Azimuth axis (left and right)
